Overview:
Affectionately known as the Wombat, this customized command vehicle is built out of an
ancient Turhan chassis.
The Outback Mercenaries claim to have found an old mothballed storage facility. Stripped of
all equipment leaving only the chassis of the vehicle, the Mercs have rebuilt the vehicle to
their own preferences.
Capabilities:
With the original engine long gone, the Mercs have replaced it with a whopping Vox 280
capable of propelling the vehicle up to 96 km/h. The engine alone accounts for nearly half
the total weight of the vehicle.
The original large lasers have been replaced by a much smaller pair of mediums, but the
machine guns have been retained. One on the turret paired with the lasers and the other in a
forward mount.
The former infantry bay has been completely reworked. The total infantry carrying capacity
has been reduced to a mere 1 ton, enough to carry a small security squad.
Taking up most of the space of the former infantry bay is a 3 ton communications suite
capable of coordinating the entire Merc unit. Three additional crewmen operate this system
under direct watch of the Mercenary commander.
Ten and a half tons of armour keep this modified Turhan well protected. If threatened, the
speed and armour are sufficient to keep the vehicle intact long enough for allied
reinforcements to arrive.
Variants:
The Outback mercenaries maintain a second Turhan with same weapons and engine, but removes
the communication equipment, infantry compartment and half a ton of armour to fit in a MASH
unit with two operating theatres.
