Overview:
The first true Kothnorean main battle tank, the Gladius Jiàn GDJ-39A was less a result of
genius engineering and more of the Kothnorean state's acceptance that they cannot have their
cake and eat it too. Determined to do their best regardless of circumstances, the designers
of the GDJ-39A made sure that it could still be an effective enough unit to justify
producing and achieved what no one truly believed possible; they created an inferior version
of the Capellan Po tank.
With at best decent speed, relatively little armor and a gun that could only really threaten
light vehicles, the Gladius Jiàn entered productions as yet another fire support vehicle to
help the increasingly infantry-centric Kothnorean military with their operations. usually
acting as little more than escorts to other units, the Gladius Jiàn GDJ-39A was doomed to
obsolescence from the moment it first left the factories. A fact that its operators and
designers are both well aware of.
Nevertheless, in the times that it has seen use in combat, the extra firepower provided by
its weapons has proven sufficient to justify its existence. While nowhere near enough to be
impressive, its main weapon is still a cannon and can effectively soften up heavier enemies
when multiple units focus on one target, allowing better equipped allies to conserve
ammunition and avoid unnecessary risks.

Comment:
Despite their weapons tech being way behind the curve, the Kothnoreans do get some things right. Their armor and engine tech, while nowhere near state of the art, are at least within reach of modern tech used just about everywhere else. For example, the Gladius Jian has less firepower then a pre-space flight Tiger I tank. But is 150% faster and has armor tough enough it would partially bounce the Tiger's main gun.
