Touch spells are awesome. My Cleric sucked in combat in the past, but now that I've got access to 3rd level spells, I can use Ice Axe. Since it's a touch attack it's way easier to hit and deals a good chunk of damage. Worked good against the troll we had to face! I can use that with Cloud of Knives, Spiritual Weapon and Ring of Blades to do a bunch of damage to one or more creatures each round (assuming I hit with the middle two). _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

In Pathfinder there's even a feat that allows you to hold the charge and interact normally with people (Touch Spell Control). Aside from that mere inflict spells can make even an inept cleric reasonably effective in combat for a while, but the funnier the effect the better IMO. Well, yeah.
